  • Top Journals in the Field

    • Hispania is the quarterly journal of the Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Hispania includes articles on pedagogy, literature, linguistics, and technology-assisted language instruction related to the Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian worlds. Students interested in any aspect of Ibero-American culture should be aware of this journal.

    • The Bulletin of Hispanic Studies has been published in Liverpool since 1923. It’s edited in one of the leading British University Departments of Hispanic Studies and is the foremost journal published in Britain devoted to the languages, literatures and civilizations of Spain, Portugal and Latin America. It’s considered one of the world’s front-ranking journals in the field of Hispanic scholarship. It covers the linguistic areas of Spanish, Portuguese, Galician, Catalan, Basque and Amerindian. It publishes works on literature, linguistics, cultural history, film and visual arts, cultural and gender studies in the Hispanic world.

    • Chasqui is the only academic journal devoted exclusively to Latin American literature and culture. It brings together research on the Spanish-speaking countries of the Americas and Brazil. It was founded in 1972 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.


  • Undergraduate Journals

    • Founded in 2015, Portales the undergraduate journal of the Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University.   • Directory of Periodicals

    • The majority of these journals are available via the library’s databases, such as Project Muse and JSTOR, for example. Those that are published by organizations, provide members with access to the journals, such as Hispania which is published by the AATSP.
