"That's some bad hat, Harry." ~ Brody (Jaws, 1975)
Our Theaters
The theater has always broken boundaries. It is a place of community, where people of diverse roots and interests gather for immersive stories; where our imaginations can travel beyond anything we ever thought possible; and where we may give vent, jumping when scared, cracking into laughter at the absurd, and shouting at the screen convinced characters may hear us.

Some say the theater now faces a decline. Others say the theater, as always, moves with the times--it's adapting; it's alive; and it's kicking.
In this Halloween 2022 Story Booth, we invite you to share your first, last, and scariest experiences at the theater. We will premiere select stories at The Reel's Homecoming screening of Jaws! Read more about NSU's Annual Film Series, The Reel, at the bottom of this page.

Story Booth & The Reel
This Story Booth event is in partnership with NSU's Annual Film Series, The Reel. This November 8, The Reel—cosponsored by NSU's Green Sharks, the Nova International Relations Association, Pi Sigma Alpha, and Sigma Tau Delta—will screen Dir. Steven Spielberg's Jaws (7-9pm, Alvin Sherman Library Lawn).
When Jaws hit theaters, it broke records abroad in Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, Spain, and Mexico, and became the highest-grossing film worldwide, surpassing even The Godfather (1972). According to IMDB X-Ray, over 67 million people in the US went to see the film in theaters when it was released, setting a new trend in the film industry for summer “blockbusters" and a new culture of theater-going!

Jaws revolutionized the film and theater industries, but theaters have also changed a lot since the 1970s. For this Story Booth, we want to hear about your theater experiences!
