COMMON QUESTIONS

Professors of various disciplines were asked the following questions to offer tips on conference conventions and etiquette:

  1. Purpose: In your opinion/experience, what is the purpose of a conference?

  2. Modality: In your field, is it typical to deliver Poster Presentations or Oral Presentations? In your field, do panelists typically read papers or speak without notes?

  3. Audience: In your opinion/experience, what is the responsibility of an audience member?

  4. Persona: How would you describe your presentation persona? (or What is an effective presentation persona?)

  5. Anxiety: How do you handle performance anxiety?

  6. Network: How do you 'network'?

  7. First Time: Any tips you normally give to first-time goers?
