Moods & Imagination
When asked what the most memorable part of the theater is, many responded with stories about far-reaching imaginations and vast feelings. Below are excerpts from their stories.
What's your favorite part about going to the theater?
“My first experience with like the theater was watching NASA's Journey to Space at the Kennedy Space Center. It's a 3-D movie. So that was very interesting. That was the most memorable part for me, the fact that it was a 3-D movie. […] My favorite feeling about the movie theater and going is when you come out, as soon as you walk out of, like, just the pitch darkness, you realize, like there's so many more … there's so much more information in your head, so many new experiences that you feel like you've lived. You want to embody the characters, and you want to see things from a new light which I feel like books also do. So that's very, you know, it's educational in a way, no matter which movie you watch.” ~ Afia Mushfika

“The most memorable part about it was the intensity of the musical from the lights, creating different moods to the softness of the music and then back to loud. […] Theater, for me, is like a different world. If you really understand the beauty of it, there is no limit to theater, and that's what makes it so spectacular. Stories, scenes, or like different camera angles, can be created and understood in its full meaning without … without anything being said, which is quite incredible.” ~ T

“My mom had taken my brother and I to a Lion King show in Orlando. It was honestly one of the greatest memories I have. And it was so memorable for maybe a lot of reasons, some being that I was able to spend time with my family and others being that it was just different from everything else I had experienced. […] When you're in like live action and theater, you can see … you have to look around and see all of the other people and everything dancing, everybody moving and singing it. It was just different. So, if I had to pick one reason why it was most memorable was probably because The Lion King was one of my favorite movies growing up, and I loved all the animals and the songs and the dances, and just being able to experience it live, and right in front of my face, just gave me a different sense of feeling. I felt happier. I felt more connected.” ~ Yenisis Silva

“I view this activity as a wonderful opportunity to disconnect with the busy world, just to slow down and take some time to temporarily live a different life.” ~ Ned

“The whole process—from buying a ticket, buying snacks, sitting in the theater with others to pay attention, and later talking about the movie with others—is ritualistic and special. It allows an escape from reality and transports us to a make-believe world where you can forget all about the other things in your life for a little bit.” ~ Samanthaka Nandam

“My favorite part of going to the movie theater is the particular theater that my mom always takes me to. It's … inside it's … really, I don't know how to describe it. It's got these designs in each of the theaters. That sort of looks like night, and it's got these like pictures of moons and stars and things. […] It's got these twinkling stars on the ceiling that were really beautiful, and I don't know … Everything about that theater was kind of enchanting and charming in a in a way, like I don't know why, but even the lights that were on the steps in each of the cinemas was […] I was just intrigued by it.” ~ Anon 3
